The Leigh Torrence South West Atlanta Youth (SWAY) Foundation
Leigh Torrence's foundation, the South West Atlanta Youth Foundation (SWAY) serves to provide funding and resources for programming like the Annual 4th Down Fundamentals Camp, and other innovative initiatives in the Atlanta Area.
This foundation is part of Leigh Torrence’s vision to improve the future of the youth of his home community of South West Atlanta. A community that is plagued by a knowledge drain and insufficient resources too often leaves children without the tools needed to achieve their dreams. Leigh is an advocate for education reform through empowerment by using incremental programs that are currently absent from the classroom. His mission is to use his platform as a member of the NFL to bring attention to this issue and build a career of service that spans beyond the field.
Leigh Anthony Torrence, Jr. is a product of South West Atlanta. He attended elementary and middle school in the West End at St. Anthony's Catholic School. Leigh Torrence is committed to the support and uplift of the Atlanta Community, which gave him his start in life.
"Leigh's efforts provide a venue for young athletics to build upon their dream to someday follow in his footsteps. Thanks for your time, effort and sincere interest in helping others."

4th Down Fundamentals Youth Football Camp
Last year’s 4th Down Fundamentals Youth Football Camp, run by NFL players, coaches, and cheerleaders, as well as volunteers, was a great success. It was attended free of charge by over 450 children of the area. Torrence’s vision is to see the camp grow and evolve each year of its existence. Eventually, Torrence wants to build 4th Down into a three day camp that will give a more complete football experience to talented youth in inner-city Atlanta. Finally, there will be a week-long overnight camp for the best and brightest members of past camps that have been tracked for academic success and sustainability. Torrence and SWAY are working toward that vision for the third year by trying to secure more financial support to improve the quality of the experience for the campers. They aim to do this by offering better organization, networking opportunities, scholarships, and media coverage.
SWAY is also working toward several other initiatives other than the football camp. The foundation also plans to start the Excelling Education Youth Scholarship program. Two $1,000 scholarships will be handed out each year to deserving high school seniors in South West Atlanta. The award will be based on character and leadership abilities, as well as an essay and application process. Recipients of the awards may use the money toward tuition costs or educational supplies, such as books. The scholarships will be funded through individual and grant dollars.
Finally, SWAY is committed to offering quarterly educational workshops for local youth in South West Atlanta. The workshops will cover a variety of issues faced by young people that may hinder their positive development. The first four topics for the workshops have already been determined and include: Getting Organized, SAT Preparation, College Application Assistance, and Developing Healthy Relationship Skills. The workshops are going to be free and will be funded through individual and grant dollars, as well as partnerships with other non-profits.
"Mr. Torrence my boys and myself we appreciate your foundation for a great opportunity and learning experience. They had fun and were very glad to meet other NFL Stars, we are looking forward to next year. This was a tremendous one day camp very well organized, keep up the good work." Mrs. Lottie Grier
